Reflection: Double Exposure Photography

1. The second photograph is the best shot of this assignment because the lines in between each layer is cleaner.
2. The first photograph is the worst shot of this assignment because the lines are not as clean in between the two layers.
3. The weakest image can be improved in future shots by me being more careful while editing.
4. I used Photoshop, specifically, layer mask, move tool, levels, opacity, and the brush tool.
5. Two images can be blended together to make one cohesive image by making sure the lines between the two pictures is clean.
6. Choosing pictures was the easiest part of this assignment because there were limited options.
7. Making the two pictures look like one was the most difficult part of this assignment because the opacity had to be just right and cutting through had to be pretty exact.
8. If I could do this assignment again I would take pictures of a landscape and edit that and a portrait photograph together.
9. On a scale of one to ten, ten being my best effort, I would give myself a four because I sort of rushed editing it because of the limited time left in the class.

Reflection: Six Types of Portrait Lighting

1. The short lighting picture is probably the best shot of the assignment because the lighting and editing is probably the best of the six.
2. The loop lighting image is the weakest shot of the assignment because it is barely loop lighting and sort of fuzzy.
3. The weakest image can be improved in future shoots by assuring the picture is clear before taking it and making sure the goal is reached more.
4. I used Photoshop, specifically brightness, contrast, levels, curves, exposure, offset, gamma correction, vibrance, saturation, and black and white.
5. I was able to meet the objectives (goals) of the assignment by taking photos of people with different lighting on their face. 
6. Taking pictures was the easiest part of the assignment because I did them in class. 
7. Picking the type of lighting was the hardest part of this assignment because it was difficult to determine which one is which.
8. If I could do this assignment again, I would take better pictures.
9. On a scale of one to ten (ten being my best effort), I would rate my effort on this project a seven because I took a lot of pictures in an effort to get the best photos for every lighting.

Reflection: Color Sampling

1. The color sample of the comic book flowers picture is the best shot of the assignment because it has good color on the most colorful parts of the original picture showing, which also happens to be the main subject.
2. The edit of the flower petals picture is the weakest shot of the assignment because it has funky coloring as the canvas looks blue and there is not much contrast.
3. The weakest image can be improved in future shots by adding more contrast and assuring that the colors look better.
4. I used Photoshop to edit the photos, specifically brightness, contrast, levels, curves, exposure, vibrance, hues, color balance, black and white, and sepia.
5. I was able to meet the objectives (goals) of the assignment by altering the color of the images by using a black and white or sepia filter, or actually adjusting the color.
6. Making the images black and white or sepia was the easiest part about this assignment because I just had to add a filter and adjust a few things.
7. Taking the pictures was the most difficult part of this assignment because I could not think of anything to take a picture of.
8. If I could do this assignment again, I would take different pictures.
9. On a scale of one to ten (ten being my best effort) I would give myself a six out of ten because I went to the store to get the pink flowers.

Reflection: Thanksgiving Photo Challenge

1. The sunflower photograph is the best shot of the assignment because it is clear and in focus.
2. The ornament photograph is the weakest shot of the assignment because it is boring.
3. The weakest image can be improved in future shots by picking stuff to photograph that is a little more interesting.
4. I used Photoshop to edit the pictures, more specifically brightness, contrast, levels, curves, exposure, hue, saturation, color vibrance, and vibrance.
5. I was able to meet the objectives of the assignment by taking photos over thanksgiving break.
6. Taking the photographs was the easiest part of the assignment.
7. Editing the coca-cola picture was the most difficult part of the assignment because of the lights.
8. If  I could dot his assignment again I would change the ornament image because I do not like it.
9. I would rate my effort on this assignment a 7 because it was a fairly easy assignment.

Reflection: Motion Photography

1. I think the knife picture is the best shot of the assignment because it came out exactly how I wanted it to.
2. I think the balloon picture is the weakest shot of this assignment because it does not have great lighting.
3. The weakest image can be improved in future shots by assuring that there is good lighting before taking a picture.
4. I used Photoshop, specifically brightness, contrast, levels, curves, exposure, offset, gamma correction, vibrance, saturation, color adjustment, and the crop tool.
5. I was able to meet the goals of the assignment by adjusting the shutter speed of my camera to get blurred and stop motion photographs.
6. What was easy about this assignment was editing the photos because I am more familiar with the tools.
7. What was difficult about this assignment was coming up with ideas for the photographs because I could not think of anything.
8. If I could dot his assignment differently, I would get a change one of the photos of the dye in water to something else.
9. I would rate my effort on this assignment a 6 because the pictures are not great.

Reflection: Depth of Field

1. The green plant picture is the best shot of this assignment because it is large enough to be clearly in focus and the background is simple and has different colors.
2. The fly picture is the weakest shot of the assignment because it is small and hard to tell that it is in focus.
3. The weakest image can be improved on in future shots by either placing the camera closer to the fly or taking a picture with a larger subject.
4. I used Photoshop, specifically crop, brightness, contract, levels, curves, exposure, offset, vibrancy, and hue.
5. Changing the aperture and shutter effects the depth of field by the camera focusing on things at various distances from the camera.  I do not find capturing one easier than the other.
6. Taking the pictures was the easiest part of this assignment because we has a lot of time to do it.
7. Assuring that the pictures were clearly in low or high depth of field was the hardest part of this assignment.
8. If I could do this assignment differently I would get closer to the fly to make them more detailed.
9. I would rate my effort on this assignment a 6 because taking the pictures was quite easy.

Reflection: Backlighting

1. The skeleton is the best shot of the assignment because the photo has light come through the bones of the skeleton, which makes for a more interesting silhouette then having the outline of my brother's head with headphones.
2. My brother playing video games is the weakest shot of the assignment because it is not as interesting of a silhouette as Bob the skeleton.
3. The weakest image can be improved on in future shots by the subject having more cut outs.
4. I used Photoshop to edit the picture with the tools of brightness, contrast, levels, curves, exposure, crop and vibrance.
5. I was able to meet the objectives (goals) of the assignment by assuring that what I was taking a picture of was obviously what it was.
6. What was easy about this assignment was getting the pictures because I had ideas of what I was going to take a picture of, so I did not have to search for something.
7. Making sure that my brothers head was not visible on other things was a difficult aspect of this assignment because it was difficult to get the right angle.
8. If I could do this assignment again, I would take more pictures of the skeleton image because I did not get many.  I liked the picture I took but maybe there would have been a better one if I took more.
9. On a scale of 1-10 (10 being my best effort) I would rate my effort on this project a 6 because I did not do much to get the pictures to where they are, I either shut off lights or put a mask on a skeleton and moved him but I got multiple angles for the photos.

Reflection: Texture and Lighting Basics

1. The picture that is the best shot of this assignment is the third one as one can clearly see what the subject is.
2. The picture that is the weakest shot of this assignment is probably the first one of the painted ceiling because it is not very close to the subject so it is a little harder to see the texture.
3. The weakest image can improve by getting closer to the image if trying to view the texture.
4. I used Photoshop in which I used brightness, contrast, levels, curves, exposure, vibrancy, hue, saturation, and the crop tool.
5. I was able to meet the objectives (goals) of the assignment by taking photos of various items with enough texture so that it would show up in the photo well.  Looking at my images, I was able to enhance the texture with the location of the light source by it only shining on one side so shadows are cast.  The light source for the ceiling image was on the side while the other two were from above.
6. What was easy about this assignment was getting enough photos for the contact sheet because it is easy to press a button a bunch of times with various angles or the same angle.
7. What was difficult about this assignment was finding stuff with a lot of texture that is interesting to look at because I could not find interesting stuff with texture.
8. If I could do this assignment differently, I would make what I am photographing more recognizable.
9. On a scale of 1-10 (10 being my best effort) I would rate my effort on this project an 8 because I did not find anything to interesting but I took other pictures of other stuff in an attempt to find something more interesting.

Texture and Lighting Basics

 The texture of this image is bumpy due to the lighting and shadow in between each of the paint bristle strokes, but not rough as the lighting shows glossiness to the ceiling farther back in the image. 

 The texture of the picture above is slightly bumpy as there are small raises in the material.

The texture of the moss in the image is hairy due to the stringiness to it and the bark is rough as it is shedding and riddled with bumps.

Artist Discovery: Ansel Adams

1. The type of Photography Ansel masters in is black and white photographs of nature, such as rocks, trees, and hills.
2. He brings out textures in his objects by having lighting that hits the subject of the photo in a way that casts shadows due to its texture.
3. My opinion on his work is that it is good and I quite like it.
4. I feel this way because of his photo's lighting that makes the simplest of subjects look beautiful in the photo.

Reflection: Composition: How Subjects are Arranged

1. The rule of thirds picture is probably the best shot of this assignment because it has good lighting and nice colors, specifically with the cactus and its little flower.
2. The picture that is the weakest shot of the assignment is the multiple shots picture because it has weird lighting and some of the ornaments are cut off, but the main two are not.
3. The weakest image can be improved on in future shots by being thought out more to ultimately get more subjects in the frame entirely.
4. I used Photoshop for this assignment, specifically brightness and contrast, levels, exposure, vibrance, hue and saturation, spot healing, and color balance.
5. I was able to meet the objectives (goals) of the assignment by taking pictures intentionally when I thought it would be a cool shot and taking random photos throughout the weekend and continuing to assign them methods of photography that fit the image.
6. Using Photoshop was the easiest thing about this assignment because the functions that I did use were easy to understand and use.
7. Taking all of the photos was a difficult aspect of the assignment because eight pictures is a lot to take when trying to make them visually appealing.
8. If I could do this assignment again, I would change how I took these pictures and try to make them better by changing the subjects and the angles.
9. On a scale from 1-10 I would rate my effort with this project at a 5 because for some of the pictures I took them randomly but for the others I put more effort into taking them and thought they would be good pictures.

Composition: How Subjects are Arranged

1. Simplicity:

This shows simplicity by the fake plant filling in a lot of the frame with minimal dead space and no distracting elements as it is the only thing in the frame besides the wooden background.

2. Brightness and Sharpness:

This shows Brightness and sharpness by there being good lighting and comparative shadowing on the subject of the fake plant.

3. Rule of Thirds:

This images shows the rule of thirds method by the subject, the small cactus with the small flower, on one of the third lines, specifically the one on the right side.

4. Avoid Bull's Eye:

The picture shown above shows a lack of bull's eye and eye level composition by the angle of the camera being higher than the subject so it shows part of the top of the step ladder.  The step ladder is also not in the center of the picture but rather the middle on the bottom.

5. Emphasize Foreground:

The image above represents emphasized foreground by because the horizon line is in the upper-half of the photograph, specifically about 3/4 of the way up.

6. Emphasize Height and Distance:

This picture shows height and distance doe to the fact that the horizon line is in the lower half of the of the photo.

7. Leading Lines:

This image represents leading lines because when you look at the image your eyes follow the lines from the front of it to the back.

8. Multiple Subjects:

This picture shows multiple subjects because there are multiple subjects, the ornaments, in the image.
